Shaping the future landscape of Evergreen |

Like our forefathers crafting a vision for an independent nation more than 200 years ago, a group of about 30 dedicated community leaders is working together with city government, developers, property owners and consultants to envision land use and participate in transportation planning to shape the future of Evergreen for decades to come.
As a part of the Evergreen Smart Growth Strategy, this Evergreen Visioning Project is the pet project of Councilmember Dave Cortese, who sought a community-based vision to guide the future development in Evergreen, including a clear concept of the future “character” of the area.

General Growth counters unfair labor practice claims

The Building Trades Council and its 24 construction union members, plus the Teamsters in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties, recently picketed Eastridge Shopping Center encouraging people to avoid shopping there.
The Building Trades Council accuses the owner, General Growth Properties of Chicago, of importing low-paid workers for the $100 million renovation of the mall, after promising to bring local jobs to San Jose.
