Chau Nguyen, 43, shot to death while seated in his car on Pettigrew Drive; no motive established yet by SJPD investigators

Evergreen resident Chau Nguyen, 43, died as the result of a gunshot wound sustained in front of his home on Pettigrew Drive on Jan. 14, becoming San Jose’s first homicide victim of the year.
Nguyen, a senior RF technician at LGC Wireless in San Jose, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Memories of a Pan Am Stewardess

When recalling her career as a stewardess for Pan Am Airlines, Jane Gottschall has quite a list of stories to tell.
For instance, in l945, a 20-year-old Gottschall was newly hired as a stewardess for the previous men-only Pan Am Airlines when she heard this comment from a passenger:
“Why aren’t those propellers moving?” the passenger pointed to the starboard engine on the DC-3 plane.
