Evergreen District students shine at
speech contest

It was a memorable evening for parents, administrators, and of course, this year’s 10 winners of Evergreen School District’s 26th annual Speech Contest Awards Ceremony. Obviously proud of their accomplishments, the fourth through eighth graders showed presence to the assembled crowd of parents, teachers and school and district administrators attending the event.

Seeing her daughter’s cell phone laying silent in her hotel room brought a wave of regret to Beth Holloway Twitty’s heart the day she flew to Aruba to join in the search for her missing daughter Natalee Holloway. She remembered thinking, “If only I had arranged for Natalee to be able to make international calls maybe she would have been able to call for help.”
