Evergreen welcomes Windermere’s Winter Wonderland

Canyon Creek Plaza transformed a vacant restaurant space into Windermere’s Winter Wonderland Dec. 9 – 12, serving up a special holiday treat for the community.

The festive Christmas motif, provided by Rick Herns Productions, beckoned 911 local children—including a one-week-old baby and a Great Dane—to pose for photos with Santa Claus.

Santa gifted each child with a little stuffed reindeer, and pointed them into his workshop where they decorated ornaments with lots of glitter. Carolers, Nutcracker dancers and refreshments provided by MegaByte Pizza entertained those waiting patiently in line for their turn to visit with Santa.

This first-time holiday celebration at Canyon Creek Plaza was the brainchild of Kim Abelite, a Windermere realtor, who wanted to thank the community for so graciously supporting the businesses of Canyon Creek Plaza, including Windermere Silicon Valley Properties. Twenty-nine Santa hours later, the event was a big hit with the community.

“We’ve gotten lots of e-mails thanking us for bringing the spirit of Christmas to Silver Creek and Evergreen,” said Abelite, “and we’re definitely doing this again next year.”

However, Santa’s helpers shared a secret with Abelite—the space Santa used for his workshop in Canyon Creek Plaza this year will not be available next year. A long-awaited family restaurant is just days away from signing a lease!
