Brownie Troop 411 brings festive holiday sing-along to BridgePoint

Brownies from Evergreen Troop 411 merrily visited BridgePoint at Silver Creek senior rental community on Wednesday, Dec. 15, to spend some quality time with residents.

Annie Kim, Danielle Lambert, Emily Farese, Emma Edwards, Isabel Anaya, Kristina Anderson, Lillian Dennison, Miri Jacobs, Sarah Scott and Sarah Carrico of Brownie Troop 411 recently brought some holiday cheer to the residents of BridgePoint at Silver Creek.

These eager first grade “elves” from Silver Oak Elementary School, clad in their Brownie vests and adorned with antlers, garlands and bells, performed “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Jingle Bells.”

Paul Varenkamp, pianist at Evergreen Valley Church, accompanied them on the piano.

After singing, they presented residents with warm holiday wishes and handmade holiday door-hangers as mementos.

Troop leader Lia Dennison led the girls in the Girl Scout Promise. Volunteer mom Susan Farese coordinated and choreographed the event.

BridgePoint at Silver Creek, open since September 2002, is a senior rental community offering independent living, assisted living and Alzheimer’s care. Now that BridgePoint is scheduled to reach 100 percent occupancy by the end of 2005, the focus of the community has turned outward.

“Throughout the phases of BridgePoint’s growth, directors and staff have worked to build a strong link between our resident community and the Evergreen Valley community,” explains Diane Atkinson, executive director of BridgePoint.

As the host for many community groups and organizations, the staff at BridgePoint tries to encourage residents to participate in and provide feedback about these activities.

The BridgePoint staff is also encouraged to remember its role in the growth of Evergreen Valley. According to Atkinson, “Besides having groups coming in here, we’re participating in community services outside of BridgePoint. We’re here to be part of the community, and our success is part of the success and growth of the Evergreen Valley.”
