Local residents enjoy Windermere’s Winter Wonderland

Wet weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of local residents who enjoyed Windermere’s Winter Wonderland festivities Dec. 7 through Dec. 10. Over 1,000 local families visited the celebration during the four-day event.

Children enjoy making holiday crafts at Windermere’s Winter Wonderland.

On opening night, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in a convertible, led by a team of equestrian mounted police from the San Jose Police Department. The crowd on hand was entertained by the Villages Hand Bells and local vocalist, Manual Romero. Children enjoyed having their picture taken with Santa and making a holiday craft. Additional entertainment that appeared over the weekend included The Villages Choir, the Cantabile Choir, the Evergreen Valley High School Brass Ensemble, K.R. Smith Elementary School and the Mt. Pleasant High School Band.

“My kids love attending Windermere’s Winter Wonder-land,” said Jill Lerner, a Silver Creek Valley Country Club resident. “We come every year. Windermere does a wonderful job with this event.”

Windermere Silicon Valley Properties holds its Winter Wonderland each December as a way to give back to the community it serves. All of the festivities are provided at no charge. This year an elective donation box allowed people to make contributions to CityTeams’ House of Grace program.

“We collected a sizeable amount for CityTeams and appreciate the generosity of those that made a donation,” said Pamela Kliewer, Windermere’s Vice President. “This event allows all of us at Windermere to be filled with the spirit of the season. It’s a very rewarding experience and we look forward to doing it again in 2007.”
