Cortese presents commendation to Megan Williams

District 8 Councilmember Dave Cortese recognized and presented a commendation to Megan Williams for her humanitarian services to young people incarcerated at Santa Clara Juvenile Hall. The award was presented at the final City Council meeting of 2006 on Dec. 12. Megan Williams started the Loving Care Group to visit with the young people at the juvenile jail, where she goes about once per week. She also brings in crafts during holiday times so that the kids have gifts for their parents. For example, on Mother’s Day, she taught them flower arranging, and each had a bouquet to give their moms. Williams also donates all the supplies. Also on holidays, she offers the kids a buffet dinner, making the times less depressing.
