CHP aids child safety

Officers Thibidow and Daniels inspect a car seat for wear and tear.

Twenty-eight children now ride more safely due to help from the California Highway Patrol. Seven CHP officers and technicians inspected 56 child car seats for proper installation and wear and tear. Officer R. Daniels said that nearly 90 percent of car seats are improperly installed and the CHP offers free inspections at various times and with events such as this.

The officers replaced 28 worn-out seats with new ones provided by several grants to the CHP. The event, on Saturday, Nov. 10, was held in the parking lot of its sponsor, Dr. George Petros and the Healing Touch Chiropractic Clinic on Aborn Road.

Officer Daniels said more information about car seat safety and complimentary inspections can be obtained by calling 408-467-5400.

Officers Falkowski and Musselman prepare to properly install a car seat. Old, worn and unsafe car seats were discarded and replaced.
