D8CRT elects new officers

At its December meeting, the District 8 Com-munity Round Table elected new officers for 2009. Incoming President Bonnie Mace will replace Jim Zito as the new leader of the D8CRT.

“I look forward to working with all community members to help improve the quality of life in District 8. The D8CRT has played an active role in land-use, public safety, education and alternative energy promotion in the past two years, and we want to continue our participation in these areas. Our organization is a vital link between the City and the community, and it also serves as a bridge be-tween neighborhoods through-out District 8. Next year, we want to expand our community outreach and create exciting community-building events for our district,” she said.

The D8CRT presented Jim Zito with a certificate of appreciation for his work. Zito thanked the membership for the recognition award.

From even before the start of the D8CRT and its predecessor over 7 years ago, this community has been blessed with a large number of dedicated people who give of their talents to continue to improve the quality of life for all of us. I am just one of many,” said Zito.

Mace will be joined on the Steering Committee by the following officers: Angela McCarren (Vice President), Jeremy Barousse (Recording Secretary), Larry Cargnoni (Corresponding Secretary), Bill Ashman (Treasurer) and Jim Zito (Past President). Steering Committee Members-At-Large include: Carol Ashman, Cecil Lawson, Van Le, Tom Paramo and Matt Wahlin.

Everyone who lives or works in District 8 is invited to join the D8CRT, which focuses on issues of interest to the D8 community. The next meeting of the D8CRT will be held on January 15 at the Evergreen Branch Library from 7:00-9:00 p.m. After January, the meetings will revert to their normally scheduled date of the first Thursday of the month.
