Other Evergreen residents appearing in the production in supporting roles include Jaime Beckwith, Kimberly Berryman, Nicholas Bonnin, Rachel Bonnin, Toni Chanroo, Danika Cote, Emilie Cote, Davelyn Couch, Erin Hopper, Ashley McCloskey, Olivia Malik, Lydia Merriam-Pigg, Michael Navarro, Kristina Relos, Lauren Ruffin, Tina Tran and Cody Worrell.
“The King and I” marks the first production within CMT’s 2005-06 season. Following CMT tradition, the first show of each season features CMT alumni as well as current Mainstage and Rising Star performers ages 9-20. This lavish tale, rich in culture and tradition, is mixed with drama and humor, as well as a beautiful Broadway score including “Hello, Young Lovers” “Shall We Dance,” “Getting to Know You” and “I Whistle a Happy Tune.”
“The King and I” is directed by CMT alumna Heather Stokes and choreographed by alumna and artist in residence, Shannon Self.
Stokes, who has directed other Mainstage and Rising Stars productions for CMT, says, “It’s a wonderful experience for the younger performers to learn from these older actors, and it’s great fun to work with adults who have returned home to CMT simply to give back to an organization that played a strong role shaping their lives as performers. The entire cast is working hard to make this production of ‘The King and I’ a holiday production to remember!”
CMT is proud to renew their ongoing sponsorship from the Target Corporation. The first Saturday matinee of each 2005-06 production will be a Target Family Matinee with all Mainstage prices fixed at $9.50. “The King and I” Target Family Matinee will be Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. This production of “The King and I” is also sponsored by the San Jose Flea Market.
Tickets for all other performances are $20 for adults, $13 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in person at the box office of American Musical Theater San Jose, 1717 Technology Drive in San Jose, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Montgomery Theater, on the corner of Market and San Carlos streets, one hour prior to performances.
