Baker promoted to director of human resources
for Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities recently announced the addition of Evergreen native Deborah Baker to its management team as director of human resources.

Baker, who holds a degree in criminal justice/pre-law, has spent the past 20 years as a human resources professional. She has broad human resources experience, specializing in personnel issues for both nonprofits and for-profit entities.

A seasoned manager and change agent, Deborah has long-term experience in instituting system-wide policy and program changes. She joined Catholic Charities in January as human resources manager at the beginning of Catholic Charities’ 50th anniversary year.

She is now positioned to help the agency implement a new proposed five-year strategic plan under the direction of Gregory Kepferle, the agency’s new CEO.

Baker was born and raised in the Evergreen Valley of San Jose where she and her family still live today. In 1998 she became a volunteer coach for the Special Olympics while her son attended Bellarmine College Preparatory.

Although her son now attends college out of the area and she no longer actively volunteers with the Special Olympics, she continues to work with special needs children.

“I enjoy giving back to my community, especially to those who need extra support,” says Baker.
