The Giving Spirit of Evergreen

Cub Scout Pack 222 benefits Second Harvest Food Bank

Thanks to the generosity of the Evergreen Community, Cub Scout Pack 222 collected 3188 pounds of canned and dry food benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank.

The Cub Scouts received donations from shoppers of five Evergreen grocery stores and on Saturday, Nov. 17, collected door-to-door in their own neighborhoods.

About thirty Pack 222 Scouts and their families handed out fliers, spoke to potential donors, and collected many heavy bags filled with food.

Scouting For Food is a nationwide community service campaign.  Pack 222 has collected more than any other Cub Scout Pack in the district for the past two years.  The final tally has not yet been announced to know how they placed in this year’s campaign.

"I'm really impressed by Pack 222's hard work and continued willingness to give back to the community." said Cub Master Ron Davis. "I'm very proud of our Cub Scout Pack and grateful to the people of Evergreen who donated.  Everyone worked really hard and had a lot of fun."

Pack 222 is hosted at James F. Smith Elementary School, with Cub Scouts who are in first through fifth grades.
