Girl Scout Brownie troop 514 collects food for the hungry on Halloween

The Girl Scouts of Evergreen’s Brownie troop 514 have made it a tradition to go trick-or-treating together every Halloween since they were in Kindergarten.

This year, they wanted to help others while on their annual outing. Parents helped the girls create flyers informing residents that millions go hungry every day around the world and that troop 514 would be collecting non-perishable items on Halloween. The girls collected almost 100 food items, which they plan to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank. These third graders have been taking to heart the Girl Scout tradition of service to others as they complete their final year as Brownies and prepare for the increased challenges facing them as Junior Girl Scouts. The girls are shown pictured here with their troop leader and several moms who helped out on Halloween.
