Evergreen Band Referral wins KFOX 98.5 Last Band Standing Competition

Evergreen classic rock band Referral indeed was the last band standing, as the five-piece cover band won the KFOX 98.5 Last Band Standing Competition in the Under 18 Category.

Referral members Ryan Scripps, Lucien Dias, Laurent Dias, Leonce Dias and Tiffani Sturges with KFOX’s Greg Kihn (in sport coat) and Chris Jackson (striped shirt).

The band won the competition following three rounds of voting, semi-finals and finals, plus two visits to play live on KFOX on Oct. 10 and Oct. 25.

Referral was one of the three bands headlining the KFOX Can Jam on Nov. 17 at the King’s Head Pub in Campbell. The Can Jam is a fundraiser for 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Referral opened the evening with a 40-minute set, followed by the adult Journey tribute band, Evolution, and adult cover Band Sage.

As part of winning the event, the band received gift certificates to Guitar Center and King Amplification, and will also play in July at the KFOX “Kihncert.”  Last year's “Kihncert” was held at the Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose on July 1.
