Galvin Jackson enters the city council race
Galvin Jackson has announced his candidacy for San Jose City Council, District 8. The position is open since Vice Mayor David Cortese has reached the term limits and is running for Santa Clara County supervisor.
Jackson is retired from the Evergreen School District. An educator, Jackson has experience from Kindergarten through 12th grade and at the university level as a teacher, counselor and administrator. He holds bachelor and masters degrees and lifetime credentials.
The candidate has also worked as a realtor, loan officer, and business owner. He currently is active as vice president, Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District board of trustees and trustee representative for the Santa Clara County board of education. Jackson serves as commissioner for the San Jose Senior Citizens Commission for District 8, liaison to the Housing and Human Services Committee, member of the District 8 Community Roundtable, advisory board member for the Evergreen Community Center and member of Santa Clara Valley Water District’s Independent Monitoring Committee.
Jackson says his experience and desire to represent all the residents of Evergreen and District 8 qualify him to seek office.
