From the Editor

I now have several issues under my belt and am enjoying being the editor of the Evergreen Times. Our community is filled with interesting people and events and my goal is to share those stories with you.

A new feature is BEACON, profiling a person connected with Evergreen who represents the spirit of community. Suggestions of candidates for the profiles are welcome. I’m sure there will a plethora of possibilities, so my editorial judgment will be the deciding factor.

You may have noticed also that I prefer to publish more pictures and shorter stories to allow for more activities. However, each story will be long enough to fully explain the news. I like to recognize the achievements our students, our businesses, our artists, our families and the issues important to our circle of living.

You can help by letting me know what you want to know more about. Tell me what you like and what you don’t like about the paper’s contents. Write letters to the editor to share your views. Publicize your social activities, your events, your clubs and your meetings.

Help me by understanding the paper’s deadlines. We publish every two weeks so if you are seeking notification of an event, give me plenty of time, at least three weeks, to publicize it. We’ll try to report on events if we can do so in a timely fashion. If you send pictures, identify the persons and details of the scene. It helps if the copy is in Times New Roman, 12 point. Don’t use exclamation points, all caps or bold type.
