Holly Oak Elementary School students could enter a scarecrow contest in three categories. Amanda, Destiny and Karissa chose to dress up in scarecrow attire, while many other students either drew pictures or crafted a scarecrow.

Holly Oak PTA hosts 4th annual ice cream social

Nearly 300 students and family members from Holly Oak Elementary School attended the fourth annual fall ice cream social on Oct. 13. Parents, students, and teachers all worked together serving delicious ice cream sundaes to the Holly Oak families at this free, PTA-sponsored event.

In addition to the ice cream social, PTA’s Scholastic Book Fair drew quite a crowd.

And if that wasn’t enough for one evening, Long’s Drugs Store helped to sponsor the PTA’s “Scarecrow Contest.”
Students could choose between three scarecrow categories to place an entry: drawn, crafted, or costume.

“All of the entries were adorable,” said PTA representative Sherry Gilmore.

Craft Faire to be held Nov. 5 at Millbrook Elementary School

The Millbrook Elemen-tary School PTA is hosting its second annual Shopping Extravaganza and Craft Faire on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 3200 Millbrook Drive.

If you need to find a gift or want to start holiday shopping, stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Admission and parking are free.

Among the 30 vendors you’ll find a Scholastic Book Faire, candles, jewelry, scrapbook ideas, rubber stamping, handmade crafts, holiday items and much more at this one-day event. Bring the entire family to enjoy food concessions, hourly raffle drawings and a children arts and craft area.

All proceeds will benefit Millbrook School. Enrichment funds—assemblies, field trips, supplies, books, teacher support services—will go directly to the students, teachers and classrooms.
