Dracula
Written by Zayd M. Parekh

There is a man
With a cloak that is black
When you see him
There is strength you will lack
Don’t trust him
He tells lies
You will know when death comes
By the look in his eyes
Don’t befriend him
Or you’ll pay
Because when he puts his hand on you
You will feel sudden dismay
He has razor sharp teeth
Where blood will always drip
Because when he’s thirsty and he sees someone
He will go take a sip
If you are near him
You’re in a situation that’s dire
Because if you don’t know who he is
He is Dracula, the Transylvanian Vampire!
Please leash abusive dogs
Editor,
I think if we have pet soul mates, Pepper was mine. He was a wonderful member of our family. We rescued him through the “Care” program when he was 5 months old in 1998. He has been through all our grandchildren, heart surgeries, COPD problems and hip replacements. He was a joy to all of the 80- and 90-year olds in our family.
His little life was taken away so tragically. We walked every day, rain or shine. On Sept. 10, we took a quick walk at noon because we had been canning tomato sauce since early morning.

Pepper |
Suddenly, this black pit [bull] dog came out of nowhere and pounced on Pepper. I started screaming, kicking and stomping this dog and then another came. Pepper spray did no good. Then the brown pit bull came and the owner.
Nothing would stop these vicious animals. They had Pepper by the neck and were slinging him around like a rag doll.
I guess God made them stop. Pepper was bleeding and we were both in total shock. We called 9-1-1 but they wouldn’t come out because someone had taken the dogs off the premises.
My Pepper went through three surgeries at Almaden Valley VCA. He just kept getting infections. He was so brave and the doctors and their staff were so kind and gentle to all of us. They did their very best, but the poor little guy had no fight left.
The two pit bulls have since been put down.
Please help our neighborhoods to be rid of vicious dogs, help make our streets safe for our little children, our pets and ourselves.
