Evergreen Girl Scouts meet radio personality ‘Delilah’
 |
| It was Girl Scouts that launched Delilah’s incredible career, so when KBAY’s “A Day with Delilah” event rolled around at the Hayes Mansion on Oct. 2, who do you suppose Delilah wanted to see out in that audience? Girl Scouts of course. Delilah joins Evergreen Girl Scouts Cristina Nunes, Troop 162; Sarah Nunes, Junior Troop 162 co-leader; Stephanie Ho, Troop 759; Taylor Chin, Troop162; Bethany Nagid, Troop 759; and Clara Chin, Troop 162 leader. |
Delilah, host of ‘Radio Delilah,’ grew up as a small-town Girl Scout. On her Web site she writes, “Aside from the ridiculous green beret and homely green jumper, signing me up for Girl Scouts was the best decision Mom made for her fifth-grade daughter. I already knew how to build a campfire, and selling cookies wasn’t the highlight of my year—it was the field trip to the radio station that thrilled my little 11-year-old heart.”
She was hooked. In seventh grade, she entered a speech contest and won three of the four categories. The judges were the owners of that radio station. Within a week of winning the speech contest, she had her first on-air job: “Delilah, on the Warpath,” school news and sports, taped weekly.
Every night from 7 p.m. to midnight, more than 6 million listeners in all 50 states tune in to hear the voice of Delilah—a straight talking survivor who blends a unique mix of love songs, compassionate advice and tell-it-like-it-is honesty into a radio show. Delilah can be heard nightly on KBAY 93.3/94.5.
