Commission to consider adding Mirassou buildings
to
historic resources inventory at Nov. 2 meeting
If you’re one of the many Evergreen residents grumbling about the closure of La Rochelle Winery, here's your big chance to make a difference.
At the Nov. 2 meeting of the Historic Landmarks Commis-sion, the commissioners will consider adding the Mirassou site to the Historic Resources Inventory. If the site is placed on this inventory, any developer interested in using the site would need to obtain a development permit from Planning and a demolition permit after the permit from Planning is approved.
If the Mirassou site does not get placed on the Historic Resources Inventory, there are circumstances when a demolition would not be subject to a development permit from Planning. One of those exemptions is for commercial or industrial buildings no greater than 1,000 square feet. Developers could not leverage an exemption like this if the Mirassou site is listed on the Historic Resources Inventory.
If you’d like to see the buildings on the Mirassou site remain standing, go the Historic Landmarks Commis-sion meeting and voice your opinion.
The meeting will be held on Nov. 2 at the new City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara St., between Fourth and Sixth streets, in Room W118/W119 at 6 p.m. For more information, contact the San Jose City Council District 8 office at (408) 535-4908.
