Skin Clinic Offers Services to Look Younger

Approximately five years ago, medical spas began to appear on the spa industry’s radar screen. Medspas, as they are commonly known, are facilities where physicians and nurses perform medical treatments such as Botox® and laser hair removal for the purpose of beautifying their patients. Clarity Medical Spa, an independent, physician-owned medical spa in San Jose, provides non-surgical healthcare alternatives to both baby boomers and the younger generation.

Clarity was created with the vision that everyone deserves to restore his or her natural beauty with safe, revolutionary, FDA-approved treatments. It opened in October 2006 and is now celebrating its one-year anniversary. Dr. Donna Lee, the medical director, relocated her practice to the Evergreen area of San Jose after five years in Sunnyvale because she noticed a lack of such facilities in the area.

At Clarity, patients are treated with state-of-the-art technology coupled with expert medical attention. The trend-setting facility, combined with the knowledgeable, friendly staff, make it the ideal daytime medical spa. The staff is experienced in aesthetic medical services dedicated to enhancing the appearance and health of their patients’ skin.
At most medical spas, nurses and aestheticians do all of the procedures and the supervising physician is rarely, if ever, around. In contrast, Dr. Lee is not only on site most days, she is the one performing all the medical procedures. Safety is the primary concern at Clarity. “It is the safety of these noninvasive procedures that is fueling their popularity,” said Dr. Lee.

Clarity’s patient demographics include men and women of all ages and nationalities. Many teenagers come for acne and hair removal treatments. Men surprisingly make up 25% of Clarity’s patients, with Botox being the most sought-after treatment. Asians make up 60% of the patients and many are drawn to Obagi, a prescription skin-care product that is popular for its skin-lightening effects. Dermal fillers are also gaining popularity, both to soften the folds/wrinkles around the mouth and to replace volume lost with age.

“Business has been steadily increasing, thanks to our loyal patients who become repeat customers as well as provide referrals,” said Amy Lee. “We know that our patients have the choice of going elsewhere but when they see our facility, meet the staff, and go through their skin transformation, they become loyal patients.”

People who are interested in how they might benefit from Clarity can schedule a private consultation or attend an educational seminar. The next seminar will be an Obagi Event on Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend. Clarity Medical Spa is located at 3005 Silver Creek Road, Suite 158, San Jose, CA 95121.
