The program was filled with music from four choirs, guest speakers from across Santa Clara county, and lots of humor. Representatives from different churches, religions and the various ethnic communities of Evergreen came to support Grace Church as it begins a new start after more than 25 years on the current site.
Vice Mayor Dave Cortese served as keynote speaker at the banquet that followed and spoke on ‘Evergreen – 20 years from today.’ Cortese commended the church for its quality programs for children and adults that add to the quality of life in the Evergreen community. Cortese suggested that Evergreen can also learn from surrounding communities that have already addressed issues of growth and change.
Rev. Goldstein also spoke, calling attention to the critical role churches play in a community by encouraging and promoting the educational , social, moral, and cultural development of residents, enabling them to discover the rich opportunities of life, internal peace and life satisfaction.
Grace Church has planned events for the Evergreen community, including a family friendly Halloween event for Evergreen’s children on Oct. 31. It is also seeking contestants for a talent show to be held on Nov. 9. Further information can be obtained by calling the church at (408) 274-1200.
