Sports Briefs

Out of the Darkness Community Walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by participating in the San Francisco Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Sept. 27 at Crissy Field.  Proceeds will benefit local and national prevention and awareness programs.  Registration will be held at Crissy Field at 8:45 a.m.  The walk will begin promptly at 10 a.m.  The VIP speaker is Senator Tom Torlakson and he will discuss mental health policy and actions that the State Legislature is taking on this important issue.  The event will also include music, refreshments and a thank you prize drawing at the end of the walk.  KTVU Fox 2 is the Diamond Media Sponsor of the event and John Sasaki of KTVU will be the Emcee.  Event sponsors include: John Muir Behavioral Health, Palo Alto Medical Foundation and UCSF.  To register, donate or learn more, please logon to www.outofthedarkness.org.

Basketball season is here again!  Come and join the fun!
This basketball league is for all 3rd to 8th grade children living in the San Jose Evergreen Area Boundary. Separate boys & girls teams, nine regular season games, post season tournaments, uniforms, trophies & team pictures. We teach Sportsmanship, Fundamental skills development, and great family fun!

Sign up now to guarantee your child a team.  Teams are filled on a “first come first serve” basis. Coaches & parent volunteers are needed. East Valley Girls Softball League sign ups for spring 2009
Home of the Twisters
EVSL has been developing young girl’s knowledge and love of the game since 1996. From the novice to the elite player our goal is to have every girl succeed and expand their playing skills. Our league is a Santa Clara County-wide league and available to all Santa Clara County girls. Any girl at least 5 years old and not more than 16 years old, as of January 1, 2009 is eligible to play. We welcome all applicable ages and every skill level. We will be holding sign ups on the following dates:

Walk For Lupus Now
The Lupus Foundation of America is hosting their inaugural Walk for Lupus Now event in San Francisco on Oct. 11 at The Band Shell in the Music Concourse at Golden Gate Park. This is a 5K (3.1 mile) fundraising walk that raises critical funds for lupus research, education programs, and patient and family support services. This year, thousands of walkers will participate in more than 52 Walk for Lupus Now events in the United States, promoting lupus awareness, physical activity and healthy living in a family-friendly setting. They will walk to raise funds to save lives from lupus, a life-threatening autoimmune disease that damages any organ in the body and affects more than 1.5 million Americans today. Most Holy Trinity Alumni Golf Benefit set for Oct. 17
Most Holy Trinity School and Alumni Group will host its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club. This event benefits the school’s Endownment Fund which provides scholarships for less fortunate families as well as for the further development and improvement of the school. The school and its alumni group invite all levels of Golf players to enjoy this day of networking, fun and camaraderie. Promotional opportunities and sponsorships are still available.
