Traffic appalls neighbors
Editor,
Along with many [residents] in my neighborhood, I was appalled at the traffic caused by the event at the Sikh Temple [the Aug. 29 grand opening]. I was there when the neighborhood banded together to voice our concerns about HUGE events being held at the facility.
The concerned citizens were “guaranteed” that there would be no large events that exceeded the parking capacity of the facility. Well, this was WAY beyond the capacity of the Sikh Temple facility. In fact, it also filled the Evergreen Valley High School parking lot about a mile away from the Temple.
We were also promised that this facility would not impact the surrounding neighborhoods, yet there were vehicles parked in neighborhoods for at least a one-mile radius from the Temple. This is unacceptable. We were promised everything to shut the community up so the Temple would be approved—empty promises. The members of the Temple are happy, but the rest of the community has to suffer.
What can we do for the other citizens of Evergreen to keep our neighborhoods from being taken hostage whenever the Temple wants to have a MAJOR event that goes beyond the capacity of the facility?
It’s a shame I could not even get out of my driveway because someone had partially blocked it, and once I did get out, it took me 15 minutes to make a left turn onto Quimby Road. I am really disappointed with the empty promises we were given and the lack of follow-through by the city of San Jose in this manner.
This is a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood and not an arena.

Kudos to Murry Frymer column is ‘appealing’
Editor,
Oh Murry, my husband just brought the Evergreen Times in from our mailbox and here is your smiling face on yet another column that makes the corners of my mouth turn up. I read it aloud to him and we both chuckled. And agreed.
There’s something that is just so, well, appealing about your writing. You write about the everyday things that affect most of us. I felt sad when you left the Mercury News but at least now we can still find you in ET. I see they are going to start publishing bi-weekly. I wonder if you will have a column in there for every paper? I hope so.
