Evergreen residents Tracy Nees and Ingrid Dick are serving on the board of directors of the Junior League of San Jose (JLSJ) for 2004-2005. Ness is serving as membership vice president, and Dick as administrative vice president and secretary.
Nees grew up in the Bay Area. She attended the University of San Diego where she received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college, she moved back to the Bay Area and began her career in High Tech. She has held various marketing positions at AMD and Altera.
She joined JLSJ in 1998 to meet new people and become more connected with her community. During her time in the League, she has worked on the Lead the Way project committee for the Girl Scouts of America and the AWSEM research project committee, sat on the placement and membership committees and co-chaired the Done-In-A-Day and the membership committees. She also served on several of the steering committees for the fashion show and rummage sale as well as three advisory planning teams for JLSJ.
She and her husband Daryl, and their 3-year-old daughter Alexandra reside in the Silver Creek Valley Country Club.
She currently is in design school where she hopes to one day be able to design space alongside an architect. Tracy’s other volunteer work includes sitting on the regional council for the American Cancer Society of Silicon Valley.

She joined JLSJ in 1999, and has served as chair of the marketing communications committee, event coordinator for the 2002 Fashion Show and as a member of the placement committee. She is very active in the community as a volunteer, serving many local non-profit agencies, including the EMQ VIP League, the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society. She is currently serving on the The Tech Museum of Innovation’s board of directors.
Her main community projects outside the League includedserving as the chair for the 2003 Gizmo WYSIWYG Annual Auction and Dinner for The Tech Museum and coordinating public relations and marketing efforts for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life events of Gilroy and Milpitas.
Dick’s professional background is in the area of marketing, sales, fundraising, event planning and volunteer management. She has worked for the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society, but recently retired in order to start a family. She lives in the Basking Ridge area of south San Jose with her husband Chris.
The Junior League of San Jose is a non-profit organization of women committed to improving the community through voluntarism, including training, mentoring, scholarships and legal advocacy. The League also responds to short-term requests for assistance with financial aid for local non-profits. Last year, JLSJ contributed over 27,000 hours of service and $247,000 to the community through collaborations with and grants to local non-profit agencies.
The JLSJ’s biennial Fashion Show fundraiser is one of the ways the JLSJ raises funds for its community programs and services. The 2004 Fashion Show, “Classic Chic” will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose on Sept. 16 and 17 with Thursday luncheon, Friday luncheon and Friday dinner gala shows.
