Councilmember Dave Cortese (above) cut the ribbon to unveil an elaborate new play structure for older children, including twisting slides and swings for children like Jose Caderos (left), a second grade student at OB Whaley.

And for the kids, a raucous balloon toss and endless water play engrained this hot summer day into their memories forever.

Patty Rivera, who has since moved to the Estates neighborhood in Evergreen, returned to serve friends and former neighbors like Barbara Jones a meal on this long-awaited day.

Meadowfair Park celebrates Phase II grand opening

Six years after its 1999 Phase I opening, Meadowfair Park celebrated its Phase II opening with gusto on Aug. 27. About 100 neighbors attended the event at Barberry Lane, off of King Road.
