Girls For A Change seeks girl action team coaches

Imagine if 1,000 girls were told they can change the world. Imagine a powerful woman telling them that.

If you can imagine yourself as a powerful woman interested in being one of those women, consider volunteering as a girl action team coach. “Girls For A Change” coaches also participate in personal and professional development through the training program.

“Girls For A Change” empowers young women to create social change in their own communities. As a volunteer coach, you work with a partner coach and a group of five to 10 girls. Coaches guide girls through the process of identifying a community issue and solving it. Most importantly coaches tell girls they are powerful and valued.

The coach position with GFC is a dynamic and rewarding experience that leads to connections with girls and other adult women in the Bay Area, implementation of a social change project and a contribution toward putting women at the global leadership table. Coaches and girls form teams that meet about twice a month. GFC also provides orientation, monthly trainings, a coach manual and full-time support.

Coaches are the most important link in GFC reaching girls. They are the ones who allow girls to see their potential and understand their power.

If you're interested in this volunteer position, contact Carrie Ellett, director of programs and recruitment, by e-mail: carrie@girlsforachange.org or phone (408) 515-8148. For more information and the coach application, go to the Web site http://www.girlsforachange.org and click on the volunteer button.

Orientation for coaches starts at the end of September.
