State Superintendent of Public Instruction visits Evergreen School District
On a day spent visiting South Bay schools, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell, picked an Evergreen School District location for his first stop-Laurelwood Elementary School.
He arrived at Laurelwood at 7:35 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, just in time to have coffee with the staff.
Principal Dan Deguara said that the entire community was excited about meeting O'Connell, who also shook hands and welcomed students and parents as they arrived for school.
Evergreen School District Superintendent Clif Black, who was on hand to welcome O'Connell, said, "It was very gratifying to see our state superintendent take such a personal interest in our children, and he was very complimentary of the Evergreen School District. He appeared to be impressed with the smooth operation of school on only the third day of the new school year and with the friendliness and warmth of the students, parents and staff."
