Art exhibit highlighting works of Evergreen resident Joan A. Naylor
Artist and longtime Evergreen resident Joan A. Naylor will be holding a free art exhibit highlighting many of her works on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4977 San Felipe Road, just one block south of Yerba Buena Road. Family members from all over the United States will bring or send paintings to display in this one-time exhibition. Members of the Phelps Family Musicians, led by Joan's sister Dawn, will perform chamber music during the exhibit.
Naylor has a master’s degree in art from the University of Utah. Most of her paintings depict landscapes, buildings or flowers in a variety of media, including oil, pastels and watercolor. She has won awards at the Santa Clara and Alameda County Fairs and showcased her paintings in the prestigious Springville Art Show, in Springfield, Utah.
Joan and her husband Dan moved to Evergreen in the early 1960s. A memorial service for Dan will be held at the church prior to the exhibit from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dan passed away last April after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. The memorial will include a musical tribute featuring friends and relatives. |
