Paving, Resurfacing to cause temporary woes

Expect delays along Silver Creek Valley Road

By Bill Highlander
Editor

Beginning in early September, traffic along Silver Creek Valley Road from Yerba Buena to Hellyer will be disrupted due to paving and resurfacing activities until December. Most of the work will be done Monday through Friday between 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.

The construction may require lane closures temporarily and the use of alternate routes. Granite Construction, the project contractor, will be sending letters to residents and businesses affected by the work activity.

At least one lane in each direction of Silver Creek Valley Road will be open at all times. Signs and electronic message boards will provide current information.

Construction crews will be grinding two inches of pavement for the project and that will create a bumpy ride for motorists. The process also requires a chip seal prior to final paving. The chips will be compacted and swept, but will be noticeable.

Granite notes that it is extremely important to observe the posted reduced speed limit signs during the construction process.

Questions or comments can be directed to Mike Matteis, project foreman with Granite Construction at (408) 595-3499.
Monies previously collected from the Silver Creek Development Integrated Finance District are funding the project.
