Grace Lutheran Church fills 50 backpacks

Grace Lutheran Church once again gathered new school supplies and filled 50 backpacks for deserving children in San Jose. The 2004 backpack drive benefited Montgomery and Cadwallader Elementary Schools, as well as LeyVa Middle School in the Evergreen School District.

Special needs children at Evergreen Valley High School in the East Side Union High School District also received backpacks. Any leftover backpacks were delivered to CitiTeam ministries.

“The members of our church donated the supplies, and with the help of Windermere Realty, we were able to purchase 50 backpacks and binders,” said Joan Beecher, coordinator of the “Fill a Backpack” drive.
