Real Estate and Loan classes offered
Tips on passing the Real Estate State Exam will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from Saturday, Sept 2-Nov. 4 at 2041 Mission College Blvd., Suite 220, Santa Clara. Reservations are required.
The school also will hold a Loan Officer Training class for six-hours of CE credit. The class is scheduled for Sept. 14 and 22, and Oct. 6 and 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Old Republic Title, 1900 The Alameda, in San Jose. Reservations are required.

Chamber’s Morning Buzz set for Aug. 30
The San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Morning Buzz is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Adobe Gallery Room from 8-9:30 a.m. Lew Wolfe, owner of the Oakland A's and a major developer in San Jose and Santa Clara Valley, will be speaking. Fine Arts Return to Evergreen Village Square
The 2nd Annual Evergreen Fine Arts Festival will celebrate creativity and music in the outdoors at the charming Evergreen Village Square Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10. This free event supports more than 65 professional artists and also features live music including performances ranging from acoustic wind player, Oscar Reynolds, to jazz and Latin music by the Jazz by Design Trio. The event is located on Ruby Avenue, off Aborn Road near Capitol Expressway and Highway 101 in San Jose. Festivities begin Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Throughout the weekend, live music will entertain the crowd and provide an intimate atmosphere for visitors.
Featured artists at the Evergreen Fine Arts Festival include Jeff Tritel of Grass Valley, who has been creating abstract pieces for nearly four decades, working as a full time sculptor for the last 23 years. The Los Angeles native has had 20 solo exhibitions and has displayed in nearly 50 shows around the country. His images are dominated by human figures, fairies, dragons, mermaids and wizards. At the show Tritel will have a new series of work called "Abigail's Dragon, "A comfortable balance," and "Chrysalis."
Other featured artists include Patrice Campana of El Dorado Hills, California displaying her series of paintings; Barbara Kee of Rocklin will showcase her jewelry, home décor, buttons and bowls; Gordon Lund of San Jose, showing his beautiful photos of images of various forests and desert settings; Lorna Lee Rose of Pine Grove, California can add charm and value to any room with her original feathered masks. ESD board meeting set to discuss instructional materials
There will be an open hearing on Sept. 21 on the availability of textbooks and instructional materials for the current, 2006-07, school year. The meeting will be held in the district’s board room, 3188 Quimby Road, at 6:30 p.m.
Evergreen pianist shines at Vineland Talent Show
Eight-year-old Evergreen resident Shay Lari-Hosain (above) played three piano pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach at the First Annual Talent Show of the Vineland Branch of the San Jose Public Library on August 8. Lari-Hosain played Preludes 1 and 2 from the Well Tempered Clavier Book 1 and the Minuet in G Minor. Lari-Hosain is a student of the Polonsky Piano School located in The Plaza at Evergreen Village.
Girls For A Change seeks professional women volunteers
Girls For A Change (GFC), a non-profit organization, catalyzes professional women to support urban middle and high school girls to become social change makers and innovators, by empowering them to design, lead, fund and implement social change projects that tackle problems they face in their neighborhoods. This group is recruiting professional women who are willing to donate 15 hours a month to making a positive change is girls' lives. Day in the Park coming Oct. 7 to Lake Cunningham Park
Day in the Park: A Multicultural Festival returns to Lake Cunningham Park on October 7, 2006. The District 8 office of Council member Dave Cortese is looking forward to another successful event this year. PG&E offers program for low-income households
PG&E is offering a program to assist low-income rate paying households with their utility and gas bills. The program is called the Relief for Assistance through Community Help (REACH) program. It allows customers with higher bills due to the heat wave to relax their payments and take advantage of flexible payment options. This program offers grants up to $300 to customers who have experienced an increase in costs, and would be in jeopardy of losing their service. For more information, visit www.pge.com.
