Windermere provides scholarships, manpower to Silver Creek High School

Windermere Silicon Valley Properties continued its support of Silver Creek High School recently by provided both college scholarships and manpower to the school on Community Service Day.

During Community Service Day, more than 30 Windermere agents and staff spent the day volunteering at Silver Creek High School. The new facilities at the school are scheduled to open this fall and Windermere helped prepare those facilities for the students. At the direction of school officials, Windermere agents and staff moved furniture and equipment to help set up the new wing.

Dave Walsh of Windermere Silicon Valley Properties presents Elise Lee with a scholarship check for $2,500.

“The school had a real need for these new classrooms,” said Scott Kliewer, owner of Windermere Silicon Valley Properties. “Our group is proud to make a difference participating in this exciting addition to the school.”

The Windermere Foundation provided scholarships for two Silver Creek High School students from the graduating class of 2007. The funds were raised through contributions generated by Windermere’s agents
to the Foundation. Windermere worked with the principal and head counselor of the school to determine which two Silver Creek students should receive the coveted scholarships. The scholarship recipients
were Elise Lee and Trang Pham.

Both Lee and Pham said their families were a large influence on their academic achievement. Both girls share a desire to further their education in a field that will allow them to serve the community in
their professions. Lee was involved in swimming, music, art and different clubs while at Silver Creek High School.

Lee served as president of the One on One club for two years, which allows students to explore different educational majors. She also was the first chair flutist in the Silver Creek band. Lee will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall and intends to major in molecular cell biology and music.

Pham also participated in numerous activities while attending Silver Creek High School including Leadership, Associated Student Body, Mock Trial team, Journalism staff, the SCHS Concert Band and the badminton team. She did all this while maintaining a 3.68 GPA, taking more than 10 Advanced Placement or accelerated studies courses and donating her time and energies to organizations outside of the school. Pham said she looks forward to attending UC Berkeley and plans to major in political science and public service. Both students were awarded a $2,500 scholarship.
