Sponsored by Involved Evergreen and the Evergreen Village Square Business Owners Association, August 21st’s Movie Under the Stars promises to be a special event for all citizens of District 8.
Residents were informed this week about the event at National-Night Out and they shared their excitement about the very first event of its kind in Evergreen. The first showing at Evergreen Village Square will be the recently released Nim’s Island at 8:30 following music in the park that starts earlier in the evening.
This is the first time such an event has been held in the Square and with strong support, could be the beginning of a tradition. By teaming up Involved Evergreen and the EVSBOA were able to encourage businesses to stay open later, get quality equipment and get the word out on such a great event. Shapell has even gotten into the mix promising to create a banner that will help advertise the event.
“Assuming we have enough funds and the community supports the event we would love to have a second one down the road” Founder and Chair of Involved Evergreen Rose Herrera said. “The main goal of the event is to bring people together at the Square and to show it has the possibility of being a downtown for Evergreen residents.”
Movie night is being made possible by a CAP (Community Action and Pride Grant) from the City of San Jose. Involved Evergreen wrote and received a grant to put on a movie night and a Cultural festival EPIC ( Earth People and International Culture) later next year. Involved Evergreen is working to increase participation by the local community and create a positive future for Evergreen Village Square
