For 15 years, Scott Karstetter made sure young baseball players heard that cry. And when he stepped down as president of Evergreen Little League, Mayor Chuck Reed and Vice Mayor Dave Cortese presented him a City of San Jose Commendation.

Scott Karstetter is presented with a City of San Jose Commendation by Vice Mayor Dave Cortese.

Over the years, Karstetter immersed himself in myriad activities: webmaster, safety officer, information officer, vice president and president as well managing teams in all divisions from T-ball to seniors.

He also started a fall program to keep interest in baseball and to prepare players for the spring season. In addition, he was a leader in the positive coaching program. At Leyva Middle School, Karstetter planning and oversaw the building of new fields and facilities.

The commendation was unexpected. He volunteered his time and enjoyed helping the Evergreen Little League make baseball for the boys every year. To be recognized for his efforts was a surprise.

Karstetter likes to be involved his community. A resident of Evergreen since 1995, he currently serves as vice president on the board of directors for Silver Creek Valley Country Club and assists in making the amenities and facilities the best they can be for the members.
