Pet of the Month

Pudgy the Pug

Pudgy—a three-year old, 20-pound male pug—is an unemployed, single actor who loves to hang out in the greater Evergreen area.

According to his owner Rudy Guevara, Pudgy especially likes walks down Yerba Buena Road so that he can hang out at MegaByte Pizza, Starbucks and El Patron Cafe.

“He is so ugly—he’s cute—a face only a mother could love,” says Guevara, adding that Pudgy has an intimating, “junk yard dog” look that also makes him seem tough. He has it in for the UPS, FedEx, mail and garbage trucks and doesn’t particularly like skateboarders or motorcycles either. Yet his very high hearing acuity makes him a good watchdog.

Although Pudgy is originally from Gilroy, he has lived in the Evergreen area his entire life. “I bought Pudgy for companionship. He craves attention and is a very social dog,” says Guevara, whose favorite memory of Pudgy is from a road trip to Reno during the winter. It was Pudgy’s first time romping through snow banks and it was quite a feat sneaking him into the hotel.

Pudgy is also an avid San Jose State University and San Francisco 49er fan, and Guevara’s funniest memory of Pudgy is the first time he saw the pug wearing a new 49er jersey.

“Pudgy can also dance on two legs and peel, eat and spit the shell out when eating sunflower seeds,” jokes Guevara.

With his entry of Pug, Rudy Guevara has won a $20 gift certificate from Evergreen Pet Center, located at 1620 E. Capitol Expressway in the Silver Creek Marketplace by Hollywood Video.
