Century Club

Bill Monning, Democratic candidate for the 27th Assembly District spoke to the Democratic Century Club at its luncheon meeting at the San Jose Holiday Inn on Friday, July 11. Monning, an attorney in Monterey, is a professor of negotiation and conflict resolution at the Montery Institute of International Studies. The dynamic guest speaker won the June Primary Election with 51 percent of the vote. More information on Monning and the Democratic Century Club is available at events@democraticcenturyclub.com.

Emily Thurber, Chair of the Democratic Century Club opened the club luncheon meeting at the San Jose Holiday Inn on Friday, June 11. The Democratic Century Club usually meets on the second Friday of each month at 12:00 p.m. in the Mediterranean Center of the San Jose Holiday Inn, 1740 North First Street. Rotary

David Jordan, guest speaker, (Left) and Adrian Diaz, President of the San Jose East/Evergreen Rotary Club converse following the club’s luncheon meeting at the San Jose Country Club on Tuesday, July 15. Jordan spoke to the club about “Better Bottles for Kids” (BBFK), a program for elementary school students to promote the use of environmentally sound, “green” alternatives, to using “disposable” plastic bottles, which Jordan says “exact a huge toll on our environment.”

The SJE/E Rotary meets every Tuesday from 12:15 p.m. at the San Jose Country Club, 15557l Alum Rock Avenue. More information is available at www.rotarysjee.org.

Feliz Cumpleaños

Ray Snow, wearing a colorful Mexican sombrero, celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family, to the happy melodies and rhythmic chords of mariachi guitar music at the Vineyard Center at the Villages on July 5.
