Coroner’s Case
1700 Block of Rigoleto
San Jose Police Department officers responded to a deceased 77-year-old cancer patient at the above location. No obvious signs of foul play were noted. The body was released to the family by the coroner.

Parolee at Large, Failure to Yield, Child Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Use of Force
South King Road/Flannigan Avenue
A SJPD officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation. The suspect ignored the officer and fled the scene. Other police units responded to the area and continued to monitor the suspect’s vehicle. Air2 responded to the scene and followed the suspect’s vehicle to an address on Leeward Avenue. After the suspect dropped of his 7-year-old daughter at the address, he fled the scene on foot.
With the continuous update from Air2, patrol officers caught up to the suspect as he was on the roof of a residence on South Capitol Avenue. Tasers were deployed and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance and booked into county jail for the above charges. While monitoring the suspect, an officer sideswiped his patrol vehicle with a fence post. The patrol vehicle sustained minor scratches and remained in service.

Armed Robbery
3400 Block of Tully Road
SJPD officers responded to an armed robbery call. The victim stated that he was robbed at his residence on Tully Road. The suspects were described as five Hispanic males armed with semi-automatic handguns. The property taken during the robbery was a handgun.

Threatening with Gun
Halbreath Court/Bridge Castle Court
Communications received a call about a family member threatening the family with a gun. Units arrived, formed a perimeter and blocked off traffic. As Crisis Intervention Team officers were calling the suspect, the suspect walked out of his house and was arrested. A search of the house produced a .380 semi automatic and a taser. The suspect was booked for 422 and 245 P.C. At one point the suspect, an adult male, threatened to kill a family member. He loaded the gun with a magazine and other family members interfered while the victim ran out of the house.

Vehicle Stop / Mental Health Hold
Capitol Expressway/Ocala Avenue
A male caller stated that another male in a black pickup had pointed a gun at him. He stated that he was following the suspect on Capitol Expressway toward U.S. Highway 101. Numerous officers moved into the area and stopped the suspect vehicle in front of Brigadoon Park. The driver was detained but no weapon was found in the vehicle. The reporting party was taken to the scene of the stop and identified the driver but further questioning of the reporting party determined that he was having a mental health episode and was taken to Emergency Psychiatric Services for a mental health hold. The driver was released with an apology and an explanation.

Near Drowning
2600 Block of Sycamore Grove
SJPD, San Jose Fire Department and paramedics responded to a report of a drowning. The 7-year-old female victim was swimming in the pool with other children. The supervising adult saw the victim motionless at the bottom of the pool and pulled her from the water. SJFD provided rescue breathing and the victim was transported to the Santa Teresa Medical Center by ambulance. The victim’s condition was stable at the time of this entry.

Major Injury Accident
Silver Creek Road / Hellyer Avenue
Officers responded to a major injury accident at the above location. Officers observed two involved vehicles, one of which was on its roof. Officers located five injured parties, one of which sustained major head trauma. Four parties were transported via ambulance to local hospitals with moderate non-life threatening injuries. The fifth party with major head trauma was airlifted to Stanford Medical Center where she was listed as critical. Serious Traffic Accident Response team members responded and processed the accident scene. It was later found that a third vehicle was involved and fled the scene prior to police arrival. This vehicle was located and impounded. This accident is still under investigation pending criminal charges.

Dealing Narcotics
Story Road / White Road
SJPD officers developed information on a subject who was dealing narcotics in the above area. The subject was contacted in his vehicle at Story and White roads and found to be in possession of Methamphetamine, manufacturing equipment and chemicals. The suspect was arrested and booked into county jail.

Wrap Device Used / Terrorist Threats / Battery on Officers / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Capitol Expressway/Aborn Road
Officers responded to a disturbance call at the above location. Upon arrival, a mentally disturbed person assaulted officers by punching, kicking and spitting at them. The suspect was arrested and restrained by use of the wrap restraint device. Four SJPD officers went to Valley Medical Center for medical treatment. One officer was placed on disability for a minor injury to her left arm. The other department members were cleared for duty. The suspect was treated at VMC and booked into jail.

Possession of Stolen Property / Forgery
1500 Block of Tully Road
A victim was notified by his bank that a stolen credit card was being used at the Best Western Hotel. He notified SJPD and officers responded to the hotel and apprehended the suspect.
