What should the world’s response be to North Korea’s firing of missiles? What role should the United States play in this matter?
(Asked at Save Mart at White and Aborn Roads)

“If China agrees with what the United States wants to do, maybe a potential war with China, Russia and Japan all agreeing with it. The U.S. is always the leaders, we’re the main leaders for negotiations.”

I think the world needs to open up its eyes to realize that this is a very dangerous situation. It was a shock to me. The world needs to open its eyes that things are changing and that we should never take our lives for granted, but we should be aware. I have no opinion on what the United States should do. I haven’t studied the situation enough to put out an opinion.”

“I think the world should take it seriously because I’m wondering if North Korea is trying to send us a message or not; if the testing means they really are planning on doing something [or if they just want attention]. I think the U.S. should negotiate or work with them. If they [North Korea] won’t, then the U.S. should take some type of action—could be an embargo or could be something else.”

“The world’s countries should stop, look, and listen and be aware of what’s going on, because North Korea is no joke. The U.S. role should be the same. We should have our forces ready and on the alert. “

“That’s heavy, but I think we have to let China and Russia put pressure on them. I don’t know if sanctions will work, those poor people don’t have anything now. We [the United States] should definitely sit down and talk with them.”

“I think the countries of the world, including the United States, should intercept and disengage the missiles.”

Michael O’Connor Kerins, 27

“It’s up to the governments around the world to put pressure on North Korea. The U.S. role, why make trouble? The United States should take care of business and keep our country in peace.”

“The countries of the world need to be firm. North Korea needs to step down and not do it again, and the United States should follow up [and make sure they don’t do it again].”
