San Jose resident Sharooq Ahmed, 22, was killed in a traffic collision on Farnsworth and Silver Ridge Dr. on July 1. San Jose Police officers were dispatched at 9:19 p.m. and believe 68-year-old Victor Ronald Mancuso, also from San Jose, was driving a silver Cadillac Escalade and turning left onto Silver Ridge from Farnsworth when he struck Ahmed on a Honda motorcycle traveling west on Farnsworth.
According to SJPD, Mancuso was under the influence of alcohol and fled the scene but returned later and is now being held at the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of hit and run, vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. Ahmed was pronounced dead at the scene, and an investigation is continuing on the cause of the accident. San Jose Police Department representatives declined to comment further on the case.
