Will Ector moves to ESD office

Effective July 1, Will Ector became the director of human resources for the Evergreen School District. He replaced Clif Black, who took over as superintendent of the district upon Tom Andrade's retirement.

Ector has been the principal of four ESD schools in the past 21 years. Each school has been recognized as a California Distinguished School.

As principal of James F. Smith Elementary School since 2000, Ector worked with architects and contractors on the design and construction of a new age, state-of-the-art learning environment that included a high speed wireless network and net-based learning. He also recruited and hired the staff, providing leadership in the use of instructional technology in the classroom.

Since the school's inception, the PTA has raised more than $300,000 for technology, books and the circulation system. In his honor, the PTA commemorated the school's media center with a plaque naming it the "Will H. Ector Jr. Media Center."

Prior to JFS, Ector spent six years at Silver Oak Elementary School, opening that school in a similar fashion in 1994. By 2000, Silver Oak was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. He was also the principal of Dove Hill Elementary School from 1990 to 1994 and principal of Katherine R. Smith Elementary School from 1985 to 1990.
