Republican Club at The Villages
Special to the Times
The Republican Club at the Villages held its June monthly meeting Monday morning, June 23 at Foothill Center. Pat Waite, candidate for San Jose City Council for district 8, and Ms. Joyce Cordi, Bay area spokesperson for John McCain and candidate for Congress, 15th district were the featured guests.
Mr. Waite thanked the Club for their help in getting him into the run-off election for City Council in November.
Ms. Cordi, in a “Town Hall” setting addressed the many issues facing the candidacy of Senator John McCain; namely, his position on securing our borders and illegal immigration; the energy crisis and drilling for oil in the U.S.; continuation of the existing tax cuts; and the military solution to the war in Iraq.
In addition to the above speakers, Lu Ryden highlighted the current political and congressional actions going on in Washington and Sacramento – of note is a renewal of the effort to require a “Fairness Doctrine” for radio talk shows.
