Fore! Fund-raiser fun

On Monday, June 16, the Athletic Booster Club (ABC) for Evergreen Valley High School (EVHS) held its 6th Annual Golf Tournament at Los Lagos Golf Course in San Jose. This event is one of the main fund-raisers that the ABC holds each year in hopes of providing additional funds for boys and girls sports programs at EVHS.

Even though this was the first year that this tournament was held after school had concluded for the year, it ended up having the most participants (74) in the short history of this event. The tournament was followed by a tri-tip dinner, raffle and silent auction of sports memorabilia. First time chairperson, Mark Milioto, commented, "This is a huge opportunity for sports teams at the school to earn funds for the needs of their programs and we are fortunate that the ABC continues to sponsor these types of events each year."

Milioto was very pleased at this year's turnout and the end result is the tournament netted over $4,000 for participating teams (i.e., baseball, boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball, boys and girls swim programs), which far exceeded his expectations. There were 13 hole sponsors and a variety of community business partners. “Having the support of the local businesses in the community is extremely important,” said Milioto, “and we appreciated the fact that they have been so supportive, not only for this event but fund-raisers that we held earlier in the year.”
