Evergreen resident to seek another term on high school board

East Side Union High School District Board Vice President Eddie Garcia has announced he will seek another term during the November general election.  Garcia says he has been part of a leadership team that has created stability throughout the district, improved test scores, passed a bond to improve safety and facilities in our schools with 72% voter approval, and balanced the budget during the recent state budget crisis with no negative impact to students.

"As the father of two daughters, I'm fully committed to do all I can to ensure that all students have the tools for a successful future," said Garcia.  If elected to another term, Garcia plans to introduce an innovative initiative designed to close the student academic achievement gap, fight for stronger School Safety Plans to make sure that students are safe when they get to school every day, provide teachers and employees with the tools and training they need to be successful, and protect taxpayers by demanding high financial standards and ensuring the efficient use of bond funds.

Vice Mayor Dave Cortese is among a long list of early supporters.  "Eddie has served the East Side Union High School District board with an unwavering commitment to student success," said Cortese.  "I'm honored to endorse his election to another term."
