Tully/King Neighborhood Clean-up Day a success

The Vietnamese-American Business Association and Vietnamese-American Community Action Team organized a neighborhood clean-up in West Evergreen on May 28 that amassed about 40 bags of trash.

In addition to the benefit of beautifying the neighborhood, the clean up was also intended to promote citizens to take care of their neighborhoods and encourage young people to take a leadership role.

Approximately 35 volunteers picked up litter at the intersection of Tully and King roads and proceeded to the neighborhood represented by the King-Ocala Neighborhood Association.

Groups who supplied volunteers include the Vietnamese-American Public Research Institute, the William C. Overfelt Vietnamese-Student Association, the Mission College VSA, and the Milpitas VSA. Rudy Rodriguez , a city council candidate for District 7, also attended with some volunteers.

“It was a successful clean up, because those who volunteered took a lot of pride in their work,” said Khoa Nguyen from VABA. “As a young and emerging community, we want to show that we support our community and our city.”
