Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi Mela
Indo-Americans celebrated their annual Vaisakhi Mela, the Sikh Harvest Festival, at Evergreen Valley College on May 15. This was the second year that EVC provided the venue for Vaisakhi Mela.
“The Indo-American community would like to see this annual festival become a multi-cultural event, sharing their pride and culture with other communities,” said Mohinder Mann. “The Mela committee volunteers are grateful to Evergreen Valley College and our neighbors joining in our efforts to provide a family day at Evergreen Valley College.”
Mann said the popularity of this event is growing every year, and with its growth comes more noise and parking issues. The committee is seeking neighbors’ input into keeping the noise down so that neighbors who are not at the event will continue to appreciate the celebration in their neighborhood.
