May 18
Resisting arrest

1500 Block of Capitol Expressway
Officers conducted a traffic detention in the above listed area. The suspect fled on foot eluding arrest. During the suspect’s flight; the Taser was deployed but ineffectively. A yard search was conducted, however the suspect was not found. A follow-up investigation revealed the suspect’s identity and an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

May 19
Robbery

Bank of Santa Clara, Aborn/White
A black male entered the bank, presented a demand note and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a “stocky” male, 5’ 8” to 5’ 11”, 220 pounds, shaved head and gap between his front teeth. The take was from one teller’s drawer, mixed denominations.

May 20
Assault with a deadly weapon

1500 Block of Via Alegria Court
An assault with a deadly weapon occurred at the above location. The victim was struck to the head with a golf club causing severe, but non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was located and arrested a short distance from the scene.

May 22
Burglary

3300 Block of Belgrove Court
A witness observed a female enter his neighbor’s side yard. When she did not immediately exit, he went to the house where he heard noise and observed the female inside of the house. Officer Palmer responded to investigate and observed a female who matched the general description provided. The witness positively identified the female as the perpetrator of the burglary.

May 24
Pursuit

Capitol / Aborn
Officers tried to stop a shoplifting suspect who failed to yield and the pursuit was self-terminated. The suspect vehicle was subsequently involved in two separate vehicle collisions and fled both before being arrested by other officers. The suspect was on parole and arrested for felony hit and run and other charges.

May 25
Armed robbery

2500 Block of Claremont Way
An armed robbery/home invasion occurred at the above location. Two Asian males entered the unlocked residence and threatened to shoot the residents. The suspects took cash and a large machine or safe from a tenant’s room. The suspects fled in a gray 4-door unknown vehicle.

May 27
Suspicious person

1500 Block of East Capitol Expressway
Officers responded to a suspicious person call at the above location. Upon arrival, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The suspect, after being placed in the patrol car, kicked out the safety bar and attempted to escape. Officer restrained the suspect and injured her right knee and shoulder. No medical treatment was required. The “wrap” was used to restrain the suspect who was then transported to VMC, released and booked into county jail.

May 27
Death investigation

3600 Block of Cadwallader
The victim complained of chest pain prior to collapsing. Paramedics responded to the scene, but were not able to revive him. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. No obvious signs of foul play were located. The investigation is ongoing.

May 28
Use of force / injured officer

2800 Block of Burdick Way
Officers observed a suspicious vehicle driving in the downtown area. A check of the plate indicated the car had been impounded for driver license violations. As Officers neared the vehicle and began to make a vehicle stop, the driver sped up and fled, running red lights for the next 3 blocks. The officer made a broadcast on the fleeing vehicle and did not pursue. Officers proceeded to the registered address to possibly intercept the vehicle. He located the vehicle and the male driver fled over a fence and into his rear yard. The officer and suspect had a brief struggle. The suspect attempted to run into his house, but the officer used his Taser and the suspect was arrested without further incident. The suspect was transported by ambulance to VMC and cleared. The officer sustained a broken finger.

May 29
Assault with deadly weapon

Quimby / White
A 23-year-old male drove himself to the hospital after being stabbed in the chest while sitting in his car at the above intersection. The victim could not provide any further description. No crime scene could be located. The victim was admitted to the hospital overnight for observation.

Homicide on Santee Drive
On May 27 at 10:50 p.m., San Jose Police Officers responded on a call of a stabbing in the 1200 block of Santee Dr. On arrival, officers located two male stabbing victims. Victim No. 1 was pronounced dead at the scene. Victim No. 2 sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation shows that the two victims were attending a party on Santee Dr. The victims were out in front of the residence when the two suspects confronted them. A verbal altercation occurred that escalated into a physical fight. During the fight Suspect No. 1 pulled out a knife and stabbed both victims. Both suspects were last seen running from the scene. A motive has not been established for this case.
