Volunteers made a difference

An army of Rebuilding Together volunteers transformed 34 homes, six Community Facilities and the lives of those who live within them during Apr. 19 and 26 rebuilding days. Volunteers from local corporations, high schools, universities and faith communities joined together to perform countless home repairs and energy efficiency improvements to ensure low-income (primarily elderly and disabled) homeowners can live in warmth, safety and independence.

“Rebuilding Together volunteers and sponsors provide a tremendous example of service and compassion by enabling low-income homeowners to live safe, independent lives,” said Beverly Jackson, executive director, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley. “The repairs and improvements they provide transform not only homes, but the lives of the people who benefit from their hard work. We see amazing gifts of love and compassion as we watch both volunteers and residents who are touched and changed by this tremendous experience.”

Founded in 1991, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley transforms homes and lives by repairing or rebuilding homes and community facilities for low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, the disabled and families with children. Each year, more than 1,700 Silicon Valley volunteers gather to complete both major and minor repairs and improvements, enabling residents to live in warmth, safety and independence. All repairs and improvements are completely free-of-charge with materials provided through donations and funds from area businesses, organizations and private individuals.
