Our City Forest to be featured speaker at next D8CRT meeting

 

Come and share your views about improving San Jose's urban forest at the next District 8 Community Round Table meeting. Rhonda Berry, Executive Director of Our City Forest, will discuss the organization's vision for encouraging the planting of a million trees in the San Jose area. Berry will also share information concerning Our City Forest's programs and community services. Other featured topics for the upcoming meeting include a preview of Santa Clara County Boy Scout summer programs and Evergreen Branch Library summer activities.

Everyone who lives or works in District 8 is invited to join the D8CRT, which focuses on issues of interest to the District 8 community. The next District 8 Community Round Table meeting will be held on May 13 at the Evergreen Branch Library from 7-9:00 p.m. For more details on the D8CRT, visit www.d8crt.org.


Show off your ride

Central County Occupation-al Center will host its Fifth Annual Custom and Classic Car Show benefiting CCOC’s SkillsUSA Club on May 16 from 5-9:00 p.m., at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose.

A $10 tax-deductible donation/fee is all it takes to exhibit a custom, classic or vintage car, truck, motorcycle or bicycle in the CCOC auto show. Exhibitors will also receive a free meal. All proceeds will go directly to support students competing in the upcoming SkillsUSA competitions. Call Instructor Mike Cortese at (408) 723-4209 or email mcortese@metroed.net to register as an exhibitor. Spaghetti, hot dogs, and soft drinks will be available for purchase by spectators. Spectators’ admission to the car show is free.

CCOC Engines and Transmission instructor, Charlie Thompson will play 50-60’s music with his local band.
