Off the Shelf
Web offers library resources 24/7
By Vanessa Menor
Evergreen Librarian
The library is a great place to visit! We have friendly and professional staff, a cafe with delicious snacks, Internet computers, storytimes, teen and adult programs, a quiet study area, group study rooms, a community room, and more! The library has great hours and if you visit www.sjlibrary.org we’re open 24/7. The library's website is a great place to access our resources from home, vacation or even from inside the library. As a full-time librarian, I'm at the library a lot; but I get still a huge benefit from using the website.
Two things you might have known about the library's website:
1. With the website I can request materials, both from the San Jose Public Library and other libraries within the Link+ partnership. Why request items? With a busy schedule it can be difficult to find time to browse in the library. Or you can search for an item online and stop by to pick it up when it's ready. There's no need to worry about where to find it, or driving to where it is. The item comes to you!
2. Would you like to call your branch with a question? Under the "Locations & Hours" link we have the names, addresses, phone numbers and hours of all 17 open libraries. We also have information and updates on the five libraries that are under construction. If you've been waiting on the edge of your seat for your favorite library to re-open, this is the best place to find out more.
I have my favorite websites memorized: icanhascheez burger.com, gmail.com, and sjlibrary.org. The library can be one of your favorite websites too!
